Here's a quick tour of 2 German cities in 10min or less! Too bad its missing some pictures of much snowy action, which are not posted cuz they involve people decked in green.

Some trivia: Germany, like us, have national service for guys. They have an option to either serve in the military (bundeswehr) for 9mths (3 mths of BMT, 6 months of unit service), or serve in the civil service, that is the government sector, for about 10 to 12 months. Basic pay is around 8+ euros a day, and those in military service get transportation and away-from-home allowances. Which would you choose?

Most vehicles in the deustchland come from 4 local maufacturers: Audi/Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes Benz or Porsche. Even buses and delivery vans are Mercedes. Its also not uncommon to see uncles and Ah Mas cruising by in convertible Audis and Porsches.

Like most countries in the EU, Germany is quite environmentally conscious. Wind power is harnessed in the countrysides, and most trash bins are separated in paper, plastics etc.

See the clouds? This is impending weather for a cold rain, which the next day, would become a semi-snowstorm, covering everything in a sheet of white. We would have found it more beautiful if not for the fact that everyone looked like an actor from Twilight and walking to the latrine through 2 inches of snow felt like a workout.

How often do you pay S$1 to use a toilet?
At highway rest stops, toilets cost 50cents euro to enter. At that price, you would expect mineral water to flow from the taps or TV in the cubicles or something. No such things, but the toilets themselves were quite hotel standard in a way, with water sprays from the toilet bowl after you're done with whatever.
Also, the ticket you get after using the toilet (!) can be used as a discount for anything you want to buy from the adjacent cafe or convenience store, so its actually very wu hua.

Usually, what we have for breakfast every day is similar to this. Cold cut ham, turkey, cheese and bread. Eventually, having Subway every morning gets old. For people that are not me, at least.

Its not cheap to be a driver in Europe these days. With diesel at S$2.24/l and octane-95 at S$2.68, you'll probably think twice before driving to the supermarket for groceries.

This is a famous German entree: pork knuckles. Judging from the size of its trotters, I'm not sure whether its from a pig or a wild boar. Its very filling, makes you feel like a pig afterwards.

Being away from the coast, central Germans don't see the beach often, and instead, this is their beach. On the grassy stretches along the peaceful Main river, families and couples picnic and frolic here every weekend. Combined with the cooling weather and the lazy sunday atmosphere, anyone would forget their troubles just lying there.

Bicycles are as plentiful as cars in Frankfurt, not because they can't afford a car, but because its so much more easier and fun to get around on a bike. Everywhere you will see stretches of bicycles parked, and its not hard to wonder why the air is so clean.

In spring, green is the new in thing for nature, and the city truly becomes a garden.

This is the Orcahrd Rd of Frankfurt, where you can walk and walk and just see shops and more shops. Like Orchard, the area progresses from more affordable goods(like novelty stores, bookshops, Macdonalds and Subway) to the branded stuff...Burberry, Gucci, Birkenstock. Some brands are actually cheaper though, like Addidas and Zara, where you can get a pair of jeans for 20 euros.

No doubt, you'll find this in every city you go. Somewhere to wander to when you're bored at night.

Buildings like this, the classic Opera House, are few and far between in Germany. In the 1940s, most major cities were flattened by Allied bombing raids, so actual buildings of old German architecture are preserved within the modern city.
A pair of percussionists selling their sound.
During Germany 2006, world cup matches were played on a giant TV platform floated on the Main river, and the the entire sides of the river were lined with watching fans. Whenever their home nation scored, people would jump into the water and party. Wacky stuff.
The church in the background is the most prominent part of central Frankfurt, a place to congregate for the majority Roman Catholics in the city. Mostly, it is a very useful navigation point for tourists, and if not for it, I would probably be confined today for not making it back to the meeting point on time.
European TOTO.
Lazy to walk? Here are some trishaws with a flat fare, for tourists with money to spend.
The view from my hotel room. Guess what it is? A cemetery! Its actually quite beautiful, and the tour guide said its a popular place for young couples to take romantic walks. At night, no less.
Darkness falls a little later in spring, around 8pm due to DST. The guide advised to travel in groups, not alone, and a little later as we roamed the empty streets, we found out that to be good advice. A few times we would cross paths with drinking teens (in the middle of the walkway!) or hooded strangers, and it just felt safer knowing you're infantry-trained.
Are you a millionaire? Get one of these waterfront mansions.
It doesnt look like it, but this is a university. One of Germany's oldest in fact, from the 1600s(I think). The campus itself has a Harry Potter feel to it, with all the olde shops and pubs built around the institution.
This is how the a King's view from a castle looks like. All buildings look the same don't they? Exactly my thoughts as the plane was descending.
This fort tower took a cannon hit a few centuries ago and has never recovered since then.
The best souvenirs you can get from Europe are handmade novelties, like these.
A school band rehearsing. See the girl staring at me?
Note the statue of the Virgin Mary in the background. Its a beautiful classic symbol of the city's roman catholic roots.
A talented young busker, probably not older than 12 or 13. Wei Xiang, you also can de!
Ice cream is everywhere in Germany, and its something to fall in love with from the first taste. Most vendors have as many flavors as Haagen Daaz has. How many 80cents did I spend on ice cream cones there.
Aaaand...that's all folks! When you guys go overseas, take more pictures too yea!

Nitemares.

So much like the dark contract, pulling deeper into a spiral of disorienting distractions and silent mania, a promised/forsaken land of seemingly inevitable despair that waits beneath. And then I think of you, the voice I think is calling me back... some kind of angel vs. devil sonnet playing out in my head, in a looney tunes kinda way... can't stand it.

And still I think if choice was mine, this would be preferable to those dreams that I've been having wayyy too much of lately...lalaland on-screen adaptations of what I've been so afraid to hope for or think about. Every single time I have to hold back the tears. Its the warm sunshine that hurts. Don't drift back.

Whatever.

Wow minx ur rite, so many cobwebs. But dun need dust la, the spiders need a home too hahaha...

3 things we havent done in some time:

1. Jam (guitar flavor)

2. Have breakfast tog

3. Msn/hp conference!

2 things held off for too long:

1. Kbox/ktv

2. Nite cycling

1 thing I wanna do soon:

1. Getaway!!

Yup. Anywhere anyplace. Loyang sentosa genting taipei ubin, let's go somewhere soon k? Lets cram as much fun as we can into these few mths before us guys are one by one crammed into a boat to some eastern island~.

Another reason is, its a good idea to take the chance for a holiday now, before the global recession sets in deeper at the end of the year, as forecasted by financial weathermans. Hope we all have something saved for the rainy days!

So many cool movies comin out! Its the summer! Shall we make use of our student cards??

this is the long goodbye

My Adventures at Sea

Sunrise at sea
Rainbow~!
Sunset

Hey everyone im back! anyone miss me? lols
After a total of 6 days at sea, i've seen alot of things that i've nv seen in my normal life. it was a totally different kind of experience and i've learnt alot more things from the sea. like seeing different kinds of merchant ships, fishing trawlers, weathers, sea animals, blah blah. now i can feel fins and tails growing out of my body already. =X

there are some of the pictures i've secretly taken using my coxswain's camera. no lah, i took with his permission. yeah, the sea was rough at times and i really got seasick with that. however not to the extent of vomitting though. u can also say that i've survived the sea. finally, there's a sea trip without me using the vomiting bag. successfully conquered seasickness!

however, my body still not used with the harsh weather at sea. everyday in and out of the ship deck into the air-con compartments make me feel sick. and, im sick now. having a fever, flu cough. training out at sea is never relaxing. everyday only less than 6 hours of sleep. during the working time have to keep watch of foreign objects at sea, which includes ships, floating objects, planes and many other stuffs. 2ndly during working hours due to the fact that im a gunner, i have to prepare gunnery stuffs and prepare ship for firing and seaman work. very tired. and my body is rocking and rolling all over now cuz i still not used to being at solid land. rock 'n' roll~

lastly, i hope everyone enjoys reading this, cuz i didnt really jot everything down here. most of the things i did out at sea are classified. yeah, so hope u guys enjoy looking at the pics. i will share more if i had the chance to sail again (which i do not want to). =P

Haiyo... In order to keep this blog alive, i just try to post something, some random inspirations of writing hahahaa

Hey all ~! Its my turn to blog again ~ Haha seeing that this blog is turning dead soon, i should step in and help by liven it up abit ~

So.. Let me share with you guys my adventure ~

Went cycling on monday afternoon with a friend of mine, thanks to jason's bike i was able to do that. Hmmm where should i start? Ok lets start with where i travelled during the whole trip.

Part 1: Journey to the destination

Started my journey from my house, met my friend at Ubi, we cycled towards East Coast Park, after which we went to Singapore Indoor Stadium -> Suntec City (Stopped by and went into the carrefour to replenish ourselves) -> Victorial's Concert Hall (Bought ice cream from uncle outisde there and sat down abit to enjoy the scenery) -> Shenton Way (Difficult terrain, needed to dismount many times.. And we were the only ones riding bikes there! Hahaha all the others wearing business suits) -> Finally... Vivocity ~! (Parked our bikes there and went to relieve ourselves and also shop abit, wanted to have kok-kok mian for dinner but we just couldn't find it, maybe we didn't search hard enough hahaa. Thus, we went across to the hawker centre there to have fish soup, after which we left for home ~)

Part 2: Journey Back

After the fish soup with rice, we definitely have enough energy to cycle back, so we tried a different route this time round. We cycled to Chinatown Point.. And what does this place suggest to you? Crowded~! So we had no choice but to cycle on the road, fortunately the bus lane was still closed for other vehicles because it was only 7+pm, other vehicles can only travel on the bus lane after 8pm. But still, we had to look out for buses haha -> Clarke Quay -> The Cathay -> Little India (This was another place which we were a little bit afraid to pass through because it is like Chinatown Point, Crowded ~! Well, we managed our way out in the end xD) -> Boon Keng (Stopped by the 7-Eleven there to rehydrate ourselves, after which we parted since my friend stays in Bedok)

Part 3: Journey Back Alone

So i continued my journey back to hougang to return jason's bike, was literally following the North-East line. Reached Potong Pasir after Boon Keng -> Woodleigh (wa... this place.. quite eerie, because it was still under construction, the 'jungle' besides it makes it scarier hahaha, i cycled my full speed passed that place... There were a few cars on the road but only 1 bike on the pavement, the bike i was on hahaa) -> Serangoon [Finally, i arrived a place i am more familiar with hahaha, the destination is not far ~! Wanted to continue travelling with the NorthEast Line but, the thought of passing kovan (most probably need to cycle on the road since the pavement is small) puts me off, went serangoon's way instead] -> Hougang ~! (After cycling all the way down from Serangoon, i finally reached hougang haha jason's house is just nearby ~! WEeeee ~!) Soon after, i reached his house, checked the time.. 21:25, not bad, 7 hours had past since i left my house.
The feeling of walking by foot came into me again ~ hahaa abit tired though, because that was my first off day from long hours of standing from work the last week~! hahahaa but too bad i had to take 2 more buses in order to reach my house from jason's place. Finally reached home at 22:05 ~ Home Sweet Home hahaha once again, thanks for your bike Jason ~!
